My Notebook and Internet Saved My Commuting Sanity
I was surprised to learn that I am not the only notebook user in the country, I was under the impression that I was in at least a reasonably exclusive club, but apparently notebook sales throughout Europe are still booming.
I saw in a report from a company called Berg Insight that the number of notebooks that use technology with HSPA / LTE has grown to 8.4 million in 2007, which implies an annual growth close to 35%. The main driver of this development is the demand of users to have their ubiquitous Internet access connections.
I must say that is what drove me to buy a notebook, and to immediately add Orange mobile broadband. It does offer an incredible amount of freedom and usefulness to be able to take all your information and network connection around with you wherever you go.
Across Europe mobile broadband users account for 80% of mobile data downloads, I’m pretty sure I myself properly account for 20% of Europe’s usage due to my chronic YouTube addiction.
I now can’t imagine being without a notebook or whatever device will follow it, I use it for work and pleasure every day of my life. The definite the attraction is the Internet connection, it has changed my life in so many ways. Just my hour and 20 minutes commute into work each morning and back in the evening has been changed beyond recognition by my notebook and Orange mobile broadband.
The tedious and mind altering journey that sucks up a big part of my life has been altered now into a more tolerable and even enjoyable pastime that lets me deal with the day ahead in a far better and more prepared state of mind.
